How warnings are generated
Warnings are generated automatically when our prediction model calculates a probability of flooding above 30% at any of the 457 river gauge stations we monitor across Ireland. The model combines live OPW river gauge readings, Met Éireann rainfall data, and soil saturation signals updated every 15 minutes.
When a warning is generated, Practical Predictions issues formal notification to the relevant TD and county councillor for that area by email within 2 hours. This log records when that notification was sent.
Risk levels are classified as follows: Elevated (30–50% flood probability), High (50–75%), and Extreme (above 75%).
